Meet Kerri- Textile Artist, Quilt Maker, and Founder of Laurie Jean’s Studio
I’m Kerri, the maker behind Laurie Jean’s Studio. I design and create repurposed textiles that blend craftsmanship, sustainability, and story. My work is rooted in repurposed materials — denim worn soft with time, flannel shirts that hold warmth, fabrics that carry memory — and transformed into pieces meant to be used, loved, and passed down.
My studio is named in honor of my sister, Laurie, who passed from cancer. Laurie was creative, bold, and full of heart. Naming the studio after her keeps her spirit close and reminds me daily why I create: to preserve stories, celebrate lives, and make beauty from what remains.
A Studio Built on Story and Sustainability
I believe textiles hold history. A garment is never just a garment — it’s a moment, a memory, a chapter of someone’s life. Whether I’m designing I approach each project with intention and respect for the materials.
Repurposed textiles are at the center of my work. They allow me to create sustainably while honoring the emotional significance of the fabrics. Every stitch is a way of preserving something meaningful.
Why I Create
Textile work is my way of honoring the past while creating something new. It’s a way to connect with people, to hold space for their stories, and to transform everyday materials into something extraordinary.
Laurie Jean’s Studio is more than a business — it’s a tribute, a creative practice, and a place where memory and craft meet.My process is hands‑on and thoughtful. I take time to understand the story behind each project.
I focus on:
Thoughtful design that balances color, texture, and meaning
Repurposed materials that bring authenticity and depth
Quality craftsmanship built to last
The fabric is what drives my design process. Each fabric is unique and deserves to be created to support that uniqueness.
